12 Practical Ways to Stop Procrastinating

If you find yourself stuck in the habit of delay, here are 12 useful techniques to help you start moving forward:

  1. Just get started – The first step is often the hardest. Once you begin, momentum builds naturally.

  2. Break it down – Large tasks become less overwhelming when broken into smaller, manageable parts.

  3. Use your time gaps – Five minutes here and there can add up. Use those windows to tackle smaller tasks.

  4. Prioritize important tasks – Don’t waste time on routine work. Do the high-impact tasks first.

  5. Reward yourself – Give yourself something to look forward to after finishing a task.

  6. Start in the middle – If you’re stuck at the beginning, jump in somewhere comfortable and work from there.

  7. Wake up a bit earlier – Even 15 extra minutes in the morning can give you a head start.

  8. Simplify – Are you overcomplicating the task? Focus on what really matters and strip out the fluff.

  9. Try “productive boredom” – Sit with the task and do nothing else for 15 minutes. Boredom often pushes action.

  10. Delegate when possible – You don’t have to do everything yourself.

  11. Involve someone else – Share your goals with someone who can check in on your progress.

  12. Protect your leisure time – When tasks are done, you can truly enjoy downtime without guilt.
